Along the Midland Trail in Greenbrier County West Virginia, in the community of Smoot, you will find the Sam Black United Methodist Church. The Carpenter Gothic –style church was built in 1901 and dedicated in the memory of the Reverend Sam Black (1813-99), a Methodist circuit rider for fifty years. The church is a spiritual landmark and is on the United States National Register of Historical Places. Services are still held here. |
