Midway Geyser Basin is a collection of springs and geysers along the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park and also the location of the Turquoise Poole. Suspended mineral particles in the water add to it opalescent color. This pool has no apparent overflow instead the water drains through seepage. There is an underground connection with Excelsior Geyser and when Excelsior was active Turquoise decreased nearly 10 feet and took almost a year to recover. |
