Yellowstone -s Tower Fall

Tower Fall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park. It is the 132 foot drop of Tower Creek that flows into the Yellowstone River. It is located at the northern end of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in the Tower-Roosevelt area. The name Tower comes from the towering volcanic formations that surround the falls. Tower Fall was documented by park visitors from the earliest trips of Europeans into the Yellowstone area. The nearby Bannock Ford on the Yellowstone River was an important travel route for these visitors as well as for Native Americans up to the late 19th century. Tower Fall was made famous by the paintings of Thomas Moran. In fact his paintings of Tower Fall played a very important role in the establishing of the Yellowstone National Park in 1872.
