Marram Grass, Bent Grass and Beach Grass are among the grasses that grow almost exclusively on the coastal sand dunes. These grasses have extensive systems of underground stems or rhizomes to allow them to survive in very harsh and windswept ecosystems such as beaches and deserts. Several species like Salt Meadow Cord Grass , Sea Oats, Bitter Panicum and woody shrubs such as Seashore Elder can be combined to further increase the diversity and stability of the beach-dune system. |
