The Humpback Covered Bridge, built in 1857, is the oldest covered bridge in Virginia.
The wooden arched bridge located on its original location, spans 100 feet over Dunlap Creek, a tributary of the Jackson River. The bridge was built 4 feet higher at the center giving it the “humpback” appearance. The area is now a 5 acre State Wayside Park and is listed in the National Register of Historical Places. It is located near Covington Virginia on route 60. |
