In Dare County, on the Northern Outer Banks, sits Kitty Hawk North Carolina home of the Wright Brothers Memorial. Orville & Wilber Wright made history and changed our world forever on that day in 1903. Kitty Hawk became known as the birthplace of Aviation, even though the actual flight was four miles south from the base of Kill Devil Hill. In 2003, the Outer Banks dedicated the entire year to celebrations of aviation and in December of that year they held the Centennial of Flight Festival. |
