The Grand Teton National Park

The Grand Teton National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming just north of Jackson Hole and south of Yellowstone National Park. In 1972 Congress dedicated the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway that that connects the Grand Teton National Park with Yellowstone National Park. The Teton Range is the youngest range in the Rocky Mountains and one of the most recognizable mountain landscapes in the world. Jagged mountain ranges, sage-covered valleys, glacial lakes and a wide variety of wildlife create scenery that attracts nearly four million visitors a year. The Grand Teton is 13,770 feet above sea level and the other twelve peaks reach above 12,000 feet. The Grand Teton National Park was established in both 1929 and 1950. In 1929 the park only protected the mountain peaks and the lakes as the base. So in 1950 the boundaries were expanded to include much of the adjacent valley floor.
