The Grand Teton National Park is located in northwestern Wyoming just north of Jackson Hole and south of Yellowstone National Park. In 1972 Congress dedicated the John D. Rockefeller Memorial Parkway that that connects the Grand Teton National Park with Yellowstone National Park. The Teton Range is the youngest range in the Rocky Mountains and one of the most recognizable mountain landscapes in the world. Jagged mountain ranges, sage-covered valleys, glacial lakes and a wide variety of wildlife create scenery that attracts nearly four million visitors a year. This view of the Teton Range was taken from the Cunningham Cabin located in the flat lands on Spread Creek overlooking the Snake River. Pierce Cunningham came from New York and he and his wife, Margaret, homesteaded the 160 acre ranch in the 1880’s and raised cattle and hay. |
