Sedona Arizona Landscape

Sedona is located in Arizona’s high desert under the southwest rim of the Colorado Plateau. It was voted the most beautiful place in America and is considered as beautiful as many national parks. The first people that lived in the Sedona area were thought to be from the Ancient Ones, the Anasazia Indians in approximately 1100 AD. They inhabited this area for about 300 years. There are several theories as to their mysterious disappearance, but none have been explained to the satisfaction of historians. After their departure other groups like the Yavapai and Apache came and who continue to live there today. The Sedona area was considered by Native Americans as sacred holy ground before the arrival of the white man. Even warring tribal enemies honored the area and battles were not fought on these lands.
