Boone, North Carolina is located near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Watauga County. It was named for the famous pioneer and explorer, Daniel Boone who sometimes hunted and camped near by. It is also the home of Appalachian State University. Boone and the surrounding area offer visitors a variety of scenic areas, such as this one on the Harmon Farm. Also there are many hiking and backpacking trails, creeks, waterfalls, varieties of plants and wildlife in this area of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western, North Carolina. |
