This unique country store was built in 1977 from building materials that were either salvaged or collected at auctions from buildings or homes that were being demolished in Randolph County. The beams came from an old ammunitions plant, the siding from an old house on Old Farmer Road, the front doors from an old barn. The flooring, windows and beaded ceiling came from an old building and house that were torn down. The columns for the foundation as well as the steps are Mount Airy Granite from a historic house in Asheboro. The counters inside the store were bought at auction from a store in the Seagrove area. The gas pumps and signs are all originals—no reproductions. Each item found on the selves and counters inside the store are also original items that continue to tell the history of Randolph County as well as the history of the Ole Country Store of years past. |
