Flowers -

Flowers have developed very special relationships with insects and other animals to ensure pollination of their species. Honey Bees and Butterflies are the first that come to mind. Also Moths feed at night so they pollinate flowers that only open at night. Birds have a weak sense of smell but see color very well, especially red, so they pollinate red odorless flowers. Hummingbirds are attracted to red, orange and yellow flowers like Fuchsias and Columbines. The Fruit Bat is a mammal that transfers pollen by drinking the nectar from flower to flower. Snails and Slugs can also carry pollen as they move over flowers and plants.
