Arches National Park located near Moab Utah, contains the world’s largest concentration of natural sandstone arches. Within the 76,518 acres there are over 2,000 arches. Water, ice, extreme temperatures and an underground salt movement are responsible for the spires, arches, balanced rocks, sandstone fins and eroded monoliths that stand alone on flat desert terrain. Delicate Arch perched on the edge of a small canyon is the most famous arch in the park and the state symbol of Utah. It appears on Utah’s Centennial stamp and license plates. Also the Olympic Torch relay of the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through this arch. |
