In the 1930's the fishing crews would bring in their catch and the local residents would come down to the docks. The crews ate their meals right there under the trees with fish cooked outside in big pots. The fish smelled so good that the residents would buy the leftover seafood. A local business man began serving "Calabash Style" seafood that was deep fried in large tubs--and that began the start of the area's restaurants.
