Before opening his own photography studio, Ashley Fetner served a two-year apprenticeship with former Theatrical and White House Photographer B. Artin Haig, one of the world’s most well-renowned fine art photographers. He went on to teach classes in photography with Master Photographer, Gerhardt Bakker at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
It was after this apprenticeship and teaching with two of the world’s master fine art photographers that Ashley established his portrait and fine art studio and began teaching photography at Appalachian State University and Caldwell Community College.
Today, Ashley is still doing what he loves best – taking photographs that deliver powerful messages for his clients and teaching others to do the same as a professor at Randolph Community College.
His photographs have been featured in the September issues 2007 and 2008 of the National Geographic Explorer Magazine, the 2007, 2008 and 2009 National Geographic Landscapes of the World Calendar, The Village Rambler, North Carolina Wildlife Magazine, Southport Magazine, Carolina Country Magazine and SC Homes and Gardens.
Ashley is a member of the Professional Photographers of North Carolina and the Professional Photographers of America.
Ashley’s excellence in photography has won him numerous state and national awards for his portrait and fine art images. His image titled “Poets Hat” was one of 25 chosen for the Professional Photographers of North Carolina Loan Collection. These were chosen by the judges to represent the high quality of work by North Carolina Professional Photographers. In 2008 he won five international awards for his fine art and portrait photography.
